About

This page was created in partial fulfillment of the College of Wooster’s Independent Study program. Independent Study at the College of Wooster is a year long mentored research project in which students research a topic within their area of study, building a project around their work. This project was advised by Dr. Jordan Biro Walters in the College of Wooster History Department. A portion of the content on this website was made possible by a generous grant from the Copeland Fund. Additional thanks are given to Judy Chilnick, whose generosity enhanced this project.

Megan Conklin is a student at the College of Wooster, graduating in May 2023. She is a history major, education minor, with a pathway in museum and archival studies. Megan began playing piano at age 8 and violin at age 10 and from there developed a love for music. Identifying as a feminist, she looked to combine her passion for music and her interest in feminist history which culminated in this project. In the future, she hopes to pursue a career in public history.
